Big Bear Gay Friendly

As we haven't updated the blog much in the way of gayCA, I thought I'd try my hand as travel critic for fellow homos..

Mairin and I spent this Valentine's weekend up in Big Bear Lake, CA. Much to our surprise Big Bear is in fact completely welcoming to a little girl-on-girl. So much so that they have taken pride into their own and created a bear pride flag:

We stayed at the Knickerbocker Mansion B&B - the number one and only place we recommend staying, gay or straight. The staff was wonderful, the food was DELICIOUS and it was in a great location close to the downtown village and mountain.

No discrimination to be found. PDA was all good in the town, restaurants, shops, etc. We even got a couples massage package as girlfriends without any awkwardness. The only stares during our V-day dinner reservation was from a 13 yr old skater boy who had to leave his table for the cold winter snowy air to calm the raging boner being suffocated in his tight pants.

Needless to say the few other lezzy couples we did see up on the mountain were of the butcher type and probs a lil' more au naturale in the nethers, but whether people thought they were gay bears or dykes, no one seemed to care.

Overall: 9.2

Dining: 9, "at Big Bear you're always hungry"
Cleanliness: 9
Beauty: 10
Value: 9, moderate pricing and great fun
Service: 9, town built to tourists

Mairin and I had a great time and are already planning another visit in the summer for hiking and camping.

Out,
Coley
